The new way to abuse women

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This day was established by the United Nation, in 1999 to raise awareness around the world concerning themes of violence used against the feminine gender such as rape, domestic violence and so on. Historically, this date is based on the 1960 assassination of the three Mirabal sisters, which were political activists in the Dominican Republic and their assassination was ordered by Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo. The U.N and the Inter-Parliamentary Union have encouraged governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities to support this purpose, mainly through liberal and radical feminist organizations.

Unfortunately, the Radical Feminist organizations nowadays try to found a new set of rules, of norms and values for an equal society, which will represent true equality in their eyes. By doing so their goal is to abolish every single thing that the society has, claiming that everything the society offers its subjects is contaminated from Patriarchal perspectives. Meaning, the biological role of a woman, to give birth, to breastfeed is a patriarchal view and not neutral. Being affective towards a child is a gender role, influenced by society’s expectations from the gender. I as a woman think that this kind of ideas insulting me, as a woman. For someone to define what does being a woman means, and what her role in society is also considered a violation of her basic rights. Listening to her intuition, to what she feels inside is part of being a woman. Not allowing a woman to express herself the way she feels, is not worse than locking her inside of a house and throwing away the key.

The Radical feminist organizations along with so called feminine organizations, nowadays are forcing women and society to identify themselves as one of them. If a woman resists, she finds herself as a stranger in what is referred by society as “womanly ideas”. In Israel, there are 34 different organizations for all varieties of women population in the country. Lately it became more common to organize meetings between different classes or status of women in society, to dispute women progress in the society. Despite the good intentions of the organizers, the result of those assembling turns into a political arena. By the left-wing organizations that banned the presence of some women, because of place of their residence, and by Pro-Palestinians organizations which prevented the participation of military women. By doing so, those organizations left aside the main reasons for the conferences, and let other issues to gain more importance over the promotion of women in society. Once again women were treated as second-class citizens, by other women shutting them up. So, the next time you will bump into different opinions than yours, remember that silencing others is another way to use violence towards others.
